Do you think this is a true technological revolution or just hype?
I personally think that the Nintendo Wii is just a hype, just like everyother game system that has been created in the past. For example, Nintendo 64. i remember myself wanting the system because everyone had it, and when i say everyone, i mean EVERYONE had the system. and the major game i think that came with that system was mario and luigi or something like that. Anyways, the point it, if Nintendo had the same opinion, if this is a technological revolution? what about all the rest that came after the nintendo 64? GameCube? Playstation? Playstation 2? Playstation 3? Sega Genesis? or even game boys and psp's or Nintendo ds's? I bet that all of these game systems wouldve had the same opinion for they own systems. I do think that the Nintendo Wii is one of the better technologies that have been invented this generation, but then agian, i just think that all of this is just a hype to get everyone to think that its manditory to get the system. And when a new system comes out, that new and improved and way better than the Nintendo Wii, the same hype thats happening right now with the Nintendo Wii is gonna happen for the next new system. So, no, i do not think that its true, that the Nintendo Wii is a true technological revolution. It just a hype.

Reading in Cyberspace ?!?
1.What effect will this library-based digitization have on Google’s relationships with publishers?
The effect that this library-based digitization has on Google's relationships with the publishers is that the library on google causes the people and the users that use to go to the library, dont go anymore because the the access that the users have in there own home on google.Because the actually library takes time, Google and its publishers make it fast enough for the public to just access the information that they want in less than 1 minute.
2. How have Google’s competitors, such as Yahoo! or Microsoft, respond to this challenge?
I think that the competitiors of Google like Yahoo! try to have the same information as Google. Just so that they wont run out of business. They could also try to be finding ways to be more and better than google. like have more access to more things and information. in a competion of the most popular look up website reputation, each other websites try to be more advanced and unique.
3. What impact could this project have on the access to information?
The impact that this project could have on the access information is the low business of the information that was originally posted.
4.Will librarians be threatened by the new development?
i do believe that the librarians will be threatened by the new development because they will be feel that they can be replaced by technology. why do that? why let librarians who went through training, education and others to be replaced by technology?
5. What do you think?
i think that im in the middle. to my advantage i could just access anything i want through google or yahoo but i believe that the library and the internet are very different because the library in a way, has more information than the internet because of all its accurate information. and its right in your hands. you dont have to hesitate if the information at the library is false because your reading it on paper. if on the internet, many questions would lead to. who wrote this? or is this recent ?

The genographic project
The scientific and technological advancements that make the project possible is that genetic anthropology, its work that has been carried out as a cottage industry, the goal is to explain human diversity. To consider the impact of our highly mobile, global society on migration, this genographic project i think, will help us know more about ourselves and will help up understand all of the DNA of the gene.and i think that the importance of the Genographic Project is for us as humans to know where we come from, who we are, and to test our faiths and our beliefs. Could researchers have accomplished this project 100 years ago? 50? 25? i personally do not think that researchers could have accomplished this project 100 - 25 years ago. Because the equiptment and the research wouldnt be as relyable and correct as the information today is. it would be very difficult to do the project more that 70 years ago. Why is the timing of the Genographic Project important? I think that the timing of the Genographic project is important because today in 2007, there are many questions from many people wanting proof, evidence, information on who they are, whats they're purpose and i think that the genographic Project somewhat helped those who are confused and those that need a start of they're way life. But then again as a believe in God. i dont think that people should be waiting for the genographic project at all, they just need to have they're faith and everything. But then again is the 20th centruy, things have changed but it doesnt mean that just because things have changed, the world has to follow. How important are the indigenious groups to the project? the indigenious groups is very important to the project. Its like a piece that they need to actually comeplete the proejct.
When War meets Video Games
1. In my opinion, i think that war games are so popular now because of the effects that are now regenerated every year. The style and graphics of each new video game gets better and better each time. There could be many reasons why war video games are now popular. Some reasons could be that the viewers and the gamers that are really interested in the game think that its a good opportunitiy to see how the war really looked like. Some people think of it as a way to just play the game and to just have fun with it. But personally i dont think that war games should be as entertaining to the views. Its war, theres never anything good about the war. And for many game creators to make a game in the vision on how war really looked like, and HOW to play it with the infromation about the many machinery and the different codes. Games like these could be presented as popular now because of the point of views and the comments that other people have for it, it could be said that the game is the best, just because that the game contains scenes and many other things. 2.i think that the fact that people took the visuals of real war, and put into the video games can affect the gamer or the person who is watching the game. War has nothing fun about it, dyeing people, killing people, shooting people, why would people take it under consideration that this would be "fun".Realistic war games desensitive people to the horror of war because of the gorry scense and the requirements of the game itself. 3. I personally dont think that war games can do any good for us in any generation. War games doesnt teach us anything but just the fact that we kill people for victory. Its pointless and shouldnt be of mind to anyone smart enough to play the game just to kill people and to see how war was like.
An iPod Classroom?
1. After reading the article on on video lectures, i personally dont think that i would be able to learn as well as i do useing an ipod rather than in a classroom. I dont think that it is possible for a student to actually concentrate on what school really is besides them just being on they're ipod all day just listening to seminars. I think that the whole thing is taking the thoughts of school the wrong way because, school is meant for a sit down class room and actually listening or doing work. And now with the new technology, i think that the mentality of the other people and the professors think that it is okay and acceptable for the stupdents to just stay home or just listen to the seminar on the ipod. for myself, i dont think that it is correct for this to be happening, but certain ways it may be reasonable for other students older than me to use. For example, college and university students, most of them have jobs and wake up earlier in the morning to catch the first period. I think in this situation, it may be easier for them to just catch the seminar on the ipod. as it said in the article "On the Go learning" so they can be able to access learning anywhere possible. But for me, i dont think that iwould be able to learn through a seminar in an ipod. Id rather be sitting a class listening straight from the teacher and understanding with further questions. 2. With maryward being already a selfdirected learning school, i believe that with this system, students already have the mentality of being independant with they're studies. Some students already have experienced many obstacles in maryward concerning the units and now if maryward were to concider the v-casting through the ipod, i dont think it would still attract students cometo the school because it is giving the messege that students dont have to attend classes but is able to listen to the ipod. There are already some issues about music in the class, and listening to the mp3's at the wrong time, what more if the student gives the excuse of listening the seminar on the ipod when they are really just listening to something else.
modern-day communitcation technology has a good side and a bad side.
well, common.. the year is 2006, i do agree that modern-day communitcation technology does have its good sides and bad. for example, cell phones. ms.largo is correct when she says that we can take a picture of anyobject at any time, but.. what about out privacy? what about the personal stuff in our phones, the text messeges, things like these could get lost and found in the wrong peoples hands. I've heard of many problemes that have happend in the past years, and most of them invovle teens like us. teens who get harrased, raped, stalked and all the other things. mostly because of text messeging to the wrong person, sending they're information. again, i do agree that cellphones are such an amazing device to have, but... what happens when it falls in the wrong hands? Next, protable video games, well i have to say that i dont realli think that there is anything wrong with having one, i mean. i do, i have a PSP and im doing fine with it. i listen to music, watch movies, play games, save pictures on it. it all seems fine to me. but when it comes to my parents, always nagging at me telling me that im "addictied" to it. its hard to really understand they're point of view,. so yea, i kinda admit that i sometimes go a little too far with my music in my ears for 5 hours straight, but in the up side, i can never waist my time or get bored. With text messaging, i also agree with the fact that we "forget" how to really write. like for example, right now. i tend to write -really- as -realli- but thats mostly just on the computer. so im not really affected by it. so yes, it can give fast communication to others and friends, but then again, yep, it can really make you loose your thoughts in writing correctly. Blogging? umm... well yea i guess that it does take away your privacy and everything, but then again its your choice if you do want to post it or not. i mean, you cant really blame someone for talking about you things that you wrote on your blog when it was your choice to write it there in the first place. ive encountered people like that on my LJ but then again i forget that it was me who wrote it in the beginning. so, i think that its all in a matter of choice if you want to post up "personal" stuff or just plain stupidness just because your bored...hahaha...okay, well i guess this is more that 300 words right? soo ill just leave it at this... as ms.LARGO says"peace-out"hahahahahahahah
